West Nile Region Select vs Uganda Cranes in Paidha on 23rd April, 2017

Bright Stars FC will have a player in the Uganda Cranes squad to Paidha for the regional tour of West Nile. Victor Aweko-born and bred in Nebbi will have another chance to show case his talent in-front of the fans who adored him for 4 years before joining Bright Stars FC from Paidha Black Angels.

The 22 year old who plies in the midfield received a call from the club’s CEO Mathias Mugwanya that he had been summoned to the National team for the tour by Uganda Cranes coach Milutin Sredojevic.

‘It was a nice call. I have learnt a lot since leaving Paidha Black Angels. My head coach at the club Fred Kajoba keeps telling us to play harder as we plan for the future. I thank the coach Micho for providing me with this chance’ said Aweko after training today at the Philip Omondi stadium in Lugogo.

Aweko played in Paidha from 2012 to 2016 before signing for the Kawempe based side.

He joined Paidha Black Angels from Young Villa United of Nebbi.

‘The people of West Nile and in particular Paidha love football. They are so passionate about football. They will welcome the team warmly but we need to be mindful that they love players playing for their team’ added Aweko who was trying to send out a diplomatic caution to the Cranes.

Bright Stars FC has had players before play for the National team. Bernard Muwanga, Mathias Kigonya, Joseph Nsubuga and Nicholas Sebwato have all played for the National team.

Muwanga and Nsubaga are now at SC Villa Jogoo, Kigonya is with Sofapaka in Kenya while Sebwato who has been one of the best players at the club this season is still with Bright Stars FC.

‘This call will help improve my football tactics. I will be learning a lot from the head coach and his team in training and the match to be played on Sunday’ added Aweko.

In the league this season Aweko has scored two goals from midfield-one against Proline and KCCA FC all at the Philip Omondi stadium in Lugogo.
