It was another day in office for Bright Stars FC with Captain Nelson Senkatuka leading his troops against Soana but with a different Commander Paul Kiwanuka who was taking over the Head coach’s roles in the absence of Fred Kajoba.
Bright Stars and Soana faced off in Kavumba a repeat of the derbies that have happened between the two sides since 2012 when featuring in the FUFA Big League.
It is the 11th time meeting between the two sides since the FUFA Big League days in 2012, Bright Stars leading the count with 3 wins against Soana’s 1, the rest of the outings ending in draws.
On Friday evening, in a match televised live on Azam TV, the end result was 1-1 after Senkatuka, a new signing for Bright Stars leveled the scores. Osama Wejuli has given the home side the lead in the second half.
‘It was a hard fought point away from home. Let us plan for Mbarara city on Tuesday. We are happy with the spirit of the boys who never rested on their laurels until they got the equalizer’ said Senkatuka who scored off a god build involving substitute Sheif Batte from the left wing when he crossed the ball for Farouk Kawooya who later set up Senkatuka for his beautiful goal.
‘It is not a satisfactory result but I liked the way the players responded quickly after conceding a goal. This team is very young and will continue performing well as the season grows. I will give them time to impress with many games coming up’
Bright Stars FC will play Mbarara City FC next at Kakyeka Stadium on Tuesday 19th September, 2017 in Western Uganda.
Subs made: Batte in for Yafesi Mubiru, Kawadwa Joshua for Moses Okot, Opejo John Kokas for Farouk Kawooya
