Bright Stars Fc edged Arua based side Onduparaka Fc in a Uganda Premier League match played in Mwererwe on Wednesday evening.
‘We can’t be carried away by this result. Our fans expect us to put on decent performances while playing at home. The win today gives us a positive mind on how to play with purpose’ These were some of the words by our head coach Fred Kajoba after Bright Stars FC defeated Onduparaka 2-1 at the Champoins Stadium in Mwererwe.
It was an electrifying game just like last season when the two teams met on the same pitch. Last year, Bright Stars still emerged winners but netting twice without conceding. The man who played between the posts for Bright Stars Nicholas Sebwato in that match was on the receiving end today featuring for Onduparaka FC.
Like last season, the two goals were sublime and also live on Azam TV. Today’s fixture was also broadcast live by the same TV Company. Captain Nelson Senkatuka opened the gates with a beauty of a goal after turning in the box to beat Sebwato to send the home fans in wild celebrations.
The winning goal was netted by substitute Moses Okot with a block buster shot after a wonder counter attack from the almost the centre on the right wing when Senkatuka raced for the ball to make a valuable assist.
Okot’s goal was celebrated in style as he took off his shirt for his first ever goal at the club since joining during the off season from Hope Doves FC.
Bright Stars FC now has 17 points same as Police FC and both enjoy top position. Our next fixture is against 16 time League Champions SC Villa in Masaka at the Recreation Ground this Saturday.
