URA FC defeated Bright Stars FC 1-0 at Mandela National Stadium on Tuesday in the Azam Uganda Premier League.
The lone goal was scored by Shafik Kagimu.
The stylish player hails from Matugga where Bright Stars FC trains and hosts its competitive games but he hand different ideas when he came off the bench to hand Bright Stars FC their first ever loss at the start of the second round for the 5 seasons they have played in the top flight.
It was a bitter pill to take for Fred Kajoba’s boys who put in a lot during the training sessions in preparation of the tie against URA FC.
‘We played very well but blew up our chances in this game. We shall plan for the next fixture against Express FC in Mwererwe’ said Kajoba
New signings in the just concluded January transfer window Mahad Kisekka, Sam Sekitto were handed their debuts in a Bright stars FC shirt while goal keeper Wagima Benson, Augustine Kacancu and Walusimbi Enoch who have been at the club since start of this season but had never played a league match finally got the nod to don the famous Blue away kit of the Kawempe based side.
‘The players were impressive. Competition is rife in the team. All my players are ready to deliver’ added Kajoba.
Three substitutes were all used as Okot came in for Batte, Kasozi for Ssenkatuka while Kiwanuka for Kacancu.
Skipper Nelson Senkatuka said;
‘We played well as a team, we created more chances especially in the first half but the final ball let us down on many occasions. We were unfortunate to concede from one of only two chances they had the entire game. We had 5 players making their league debut for the club and they did well and we will build on this for the next game against Express’
