Nyamityobora FC 2-3 Bright Stars FC
Mutesa II Stadum Wankulukuku
What a come-back from the dead for Bright Stars FC on Wednesday evening. The match looked lost at halftime for the away team but two instant changes at the resumption of the second half seems to have played a role in the battle for three points at Mutessa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
The recovery journey for points and maintenance of the early leadership of the table in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League match was ignited by a penalty, a deflected shot and a simple tap in as the Yoshino Trading and Tateru sponsored Stars won the match in style seeing off off Nyamityobora FC with two late goals in the game.
Bright Stars FC won 3-2 in Wankulukuku-the 2nd win on this pitch for Fred Kajoba’s team.
The match proper
New player Kayanja Brian netted the winning goal in added time of the second half to seal the win for Captain Nelson Senkatuka and company for the second consecutive match.
Nyamityobora FC was the better team in the opening 45 minutes and it is no surprise that they took the lead in the 5th minute to send shivers in the spines of Bright Stars FC backline and goalkeeper Simon Tamale. The Western region team doubled their lead with ease in the 35th minute.
Tactical changes were made for Bright Stars FC as Kajoba introduced attack minded Henry Kiwanuka and Methodious Jungu fating play with offensive signs to sharpen the attack.
Three minutes into the second half, Nelson Senkatuka was pulled inside the area and made no mistake to convert the kick from the penalty mark in the 48th minute.
In the 69th minute Kajoba opted to add new signing Kayanja Brian upfront as a third striker. Kayanja playing top flight football for the first time replaced defender Ngoobi Derick.
Kayanja’s physical ability confused Nyamityobora backline and the tactical move gave captain Senkatuka more liberty to take on defenders and create more space upfront. He was involved in all the three goals scored. Mahad Kissekka was also playing top class football as he took control of the midfield in the second half.
Nevertheless, as the game progressed towards the end, Alfred Onek had his first league goal in the 90th minute after he controlled the ball inside the area before his left footed shot-on target was deflected for the equaliser.
A minute later, Kayanja scored the winning goal for Bright Stars FC when he received a lay-up from the left of the pitch from his captain Senkatuka who had done alot of the donkey work to win and drive the ball.
‘We made our plans right in the second half. I decided to bring on attacking players and managed to change the game. We shall keep pushing to win our games and score more goals. We are going to work on our defending to reduce on the goals we concede’ said Bright Stars FC Head Coach Kajoba.
It is early times but Bright Stars FC leads the 16-team log with 6 points from two games.
