Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32

Bumate 1(3)-1(5) Bright Stars FC

Bright Stars FC defeated FUFA Big League side Bumate FC in Bundibugyo via spot-kicks to qualify for the round of 16 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup at Christ High School play Ground.

The home side got the lead through Beckam Musoki however, in the second half, coach Fred Kajoba made tactical changes opting for two strikers skipper Nelson Senkatuka came on for Fred Segujja and Brian Kayanja for James Angu.

After a while, substitute Kayanja’s strike was on target to level matters  1-1 before the final whistle.

In the shootouts, Bright Stars FC players Aggrey Kirya, Samuel Ssekitto, Augustine Kacancu, Nelson Senkatuka and Brian Kayanja converted their spot kicks in the 5-3 victory.

Bright Stars FC is now in the money brackets and only three games away to the final of the 94th edition of Uganda Cup.

However, in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League the Stars finished the first Round in the 9th position with 20 points from 15 games. 5 wins 5 draws and 5 losses.

Shared points with defending Champions Vipers SC, record champions SC Villa, Express FC, and Onduparaka FC away in Arua. Lost points to Police FC, KCCA FC, URA FC, Mbarara City, and Tooro Utd.

Skipper Nelson Senkatuka is the club’s leading scorer with 6 league goals.

The Club continues with second round preparations strategically aiming to maintain and fight for the best position at the end of the season.
