Bright Stars FC 3-0 Ndejje University
Champions Stadium Mwererwe
It was a point to prove at the Champions Stadium in Mwererwe as Bright Stars FC attained another big win against Ndejje University in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League in Mwererwe on Saturday.
As tactician Paul Kiwanuka promised a win in the next game after the draw against Tooro United, the Stars managed to fulfill the assurance with a 3-0 victory before the home fans. The same result was picked up in Ndejje during the first round.
It took only 15 minutes for Bright Stars FC to lead the game through Jamil Kalisa who scored from a throw-in delivered by Dan Birikwalira.
The second goal came 9 minutes after the break when midfilder Juma Sebaduka connected Senkatuka’s free Kick from the left.
In the 66th minute, first goalscorer Kalisa was injured. He was replaced by midfielder Henry Kiwanuka before Dan Birikwalira paved way for striker Alfred Onek in the 72nd minute.
The visitors took no time to breathe as Bright Stars continued with dangerous attacks hunting for a third goal.
Bright Stars FC head coach Fred Kajoba decided to make his last substitution 15 minutes to the end of the match. He brought on the fresh legs of striker Brian Kayanja for skipper Senkatuka.
His energetic runs upfront took him only 6 minutes on the pitch to pull off the third goal with a powerful shot on target in the 81st minute.
‘This is just the beginning. We want to win more games in the league. It was only confidence that was lucking in our players. We have managed to use our chances although we missed some. Our difficulty was in finishing and we have tried to solve the problem. Since the beginning of the season our priority was playing attacking football. We shall continue with this approach’ said Fred Kajoba Bright Stars FC Head Coach.
The Stars are in the 10th position on the table with 29 points from 22 games.
Bright Stars will return to action on Wednesday 6th March away in Luzira against Maroons FC.
