Striker Brian Kayanja registered his name in the Bright Stars FC Cup history with a crafted strike in the 1-0 victory over Nebbi Central that confirmed the first ever qualification to the semifinals of the Uganda Cup on Saturday for the Kawempe based team.

Kayanja joined Bright Stars FC at the beginning of the season and has been so instrumental in the hunt for goals upfront in all competitions.

‘I’m delighted to score for my club in such a crucial game. It wasn’t my sole effort but a collective team effort. We play as a team and I thank my fell teammates for the support’ said Kayanja.

This is so far the best achievement for long-serving Bright Stars FC tactician Fred Kajoba since his arrival in November 2014. He was also pleased with the qualification.

‘It wasn’t an easy game for us but lucky enough our game plan worked. I’m glad we have made it to the semifinals and we are ready for any opponent’ said Kajoba.

The Stars now focus on the next Cup opponent in the semifinals that may see Kyetume FC, Vipers SC, Express FC, BUL FC, Proline FC being the challengers in the last four.
