Bright Stars FC 2-1 Nyamityobora FC

Champions Stadium Mwererwe

Captain  Nelson Senkatuka returned to the scoreboard with a brace in a 2-1 victory over Nyamityobora FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at the Champions Stadium Mwererwe on Wednesday.

Senkatuka who has long been missing out on the score sheet took advantage of a shot corner from Dan Birikwalira before curving the ball into the right corner of the target to give the Bright Stars the lead in the 25th minute.

He doubled the lead in the 51st minute with a low shot to the far post after a stunning combination with strike partner Brian Kayanja.

However, Senkatuka had a chance to score a hat-trick but his free kick on the edge of the box was denied by the goal post in the 85th minute.

Other Chances:

Much as Bright Stars players in offensive positions create several chances match in match out, the same happened against Nyamityobora FC when it all started with unfamiliar goal scorer Andrew Kaggwa who clearly received a free ball in the penalty area but goalkeeper Denis Otim saved his effort in the first half.

Juma Sebaduka also had a scoring opportunity from Birikwalira’s cross. His close-range free header failed to hit the target in the 21st minute.

Kayanja got several chances in the second half but goalkeeper Otim pulled off two saves that kept the former out of the score sheet.

Changes:

The offensive midfielder Henry Kiwanuka was the first to be introduced in the second half. He came on for Sebaduka in the 56th minute. Methodius Jungu also played a part in the game when he replaced Birikwalira 9 minutes later.

With 18 minutes to play, tactician Fred Kajoba went for a more attacking player Kokas Opejo for defender Kaggwa.

The three substitutes added momentum to the attacking force of Bright Stars and it was the yellow boys with ball possession all out however the game plan created gaps in the defensive mechanism and the visitors tried their luck with a long ball that found defender Farouk Katongole flat-footed before brushing the ball into his own net just six minutes to the last whistle.

‘ I’m not happy with the way my players miss chances. We deserved a bigger win than this but all in all the three points we have got are vital for us’ said Kajoba Bright Stars FC head coach
