Bright Stars FC 1-1 Police FC
Champions Stadium Mwererwe
It was a great come back for the Bright Stars FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League when Augustine Kacancu got off the the mark with an equaliser against Police FC at the Champions Stadium Mwererwe on Friday.
Kacancu scored in the 70th minute with a close-range tap-in from Alfred Onek’s rebound.
The central midfielder got several scoring opportunities during the course of the game but his efforts were denied by Police FC goalkeeper Davis Mutebi-a former player at Bright Stars FC.
Kacancu was named Man of the Match.
However team captain Nelson Senkatuka also had a chance to hit the back of the net in the first half with a well-taken free-kick from the left but still, Mutebi saved it for a corner in the 28th minute.
Head coach Fred Kajoba made an early substitution in the 30th minute pulling off Rajab Kakooza for Alfred Onek.
Onek’s appearance to the pitch increased the tempo of the game upfront and the visitors failed to control the pressure from Bright Stars attacking force that was also joined striker Brian Kayanja who came in for Aggrey Kirya in the 65th minute.
In the other tactical change, Dan Birikwalira replaced Moses Okot.
‘We have failed to convert our chances otherwise we would have scored more than two goals today. We dominated much of the second half and we tried everything to have the win but it never happened’ said Fred Kajoba Bright Stars FC head coach.
Bright Stars is 10th with 35 points on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League Table.
